I remember going to birthday parties when I was a little girl. I didn’t bother about the gift, the return gift or the friends. All that mostly mattered to me was the food, and if the menu had noodles, well, that became the best birthday party of the year.
When my father had gone to see my mother for the first time, my mom had cringed her nose on seeing his watch. She didn’t quite like the brand he wore as it didn’t match with her delightful royal taste.
Grandmothers knew everything! From age old stories to lip smacking yummy Churans! They had the key to every lock. They made ‘home-made’ the living trend of their era and era’s to come. Maybe that is the reason why ‘Grandmother’s tales and recipes’ are so famous and have lived long enough to create history.
Wedding bells are one of the sweetest chimes your ears can hear. It brings in jitters and some 1000 butterflies flutter in the tummy until the final walking down of the aisle has been done. Ofcourse I am not married and haven't enjoyed the fluttering. But I know. I know how I will feel when I finally walk down my path of roses!
I have always been obsessed with clothes. Dresses full of frills, salwar suits with layers of gher and lehengas that will make you boomerang. 'When I twirl, my dress should twirl along' has been my hearts mantra since forever!
I miss playing with my kitchen set. The fancy one and the ones that were made of mud, 'mitti ke khilone'. The fanciest ones were full of jazz, they enlightened our curious minds and lighted up our eyes whereas the mitti (mud) ones connected us to our souls.
Mom made food never goes wrong! Somewhere that whole 'ghar ka khana' thing is still intact and connects us to being old school, deep down our very modern hearts.
Every little girls dream has been her mother’s closet. The swirly twirly drapes, those little big bindis, those bangles and the ever so glittery jewellery.
Birthdays or any sort of celebration has always always been special for me. Any amount of ‘always’ will not justify my craziness & excitement. I miss those days when my house was full of chitty chatty kids and the walls had colourful creepers (atleast that’s what I thought streamers were).
Have you ever been to a place where you have wanted to buy everything that’s there? Has a place ever made you feel so elated with excitement, that one floor just doesn't seem enough.
I love pretty things. Even the tiniest bit of pretty excites my adrenalin buds. I don't like anything that's basic and boring. When I get up in the morning, the clock hanging on my wall should be so beautiful that it forces me to wake up and kill the redundancy.
Some places are like home. Once you go there, you want to go there again and again. Be it the food, the ambience, the aura of the place, or the vibe, just about anything that pulls you like magnet. You make so many memories there, that you crave to visit it again, to smile and feel warm, warm like a cup of cappuccino.
Ever since I was a little Girl, 'dressing up' was my favourite game. I was always fascinated with bows and frills and frocks. My mother loved dressing me up in those smocking frocks stitched by my grandmother and 'bow' my hair up with the prettiest colours
Have you ever felt like feasting on the soap you’re bathing from because it smells so tempting? Or have you tried to brush your tongue on your lips over and over again because the buttery tangy taste of the lip balm isn’t enough, just once?
Living in a family where almost all my aunts and sisters have the knack for craft, I come out as the single odd one out who cannot draw a straight line without a scale. Yes! We have artists and crafty souls in our family who'll sketch like it's a dream come true, and I, well, I happily applaud and write.
Desserts are such life savers. If there's 'not so good' food in the buffet, I lurk around the desserts corner. And 9/10 times, I get mostly 2 to 3 picks to fulfill my needy stomachs desire. No food is good enough when there's a sweet-tooth craving to desperately devour the goodies.
Health is a very crucial part of our lives. It is not necessary to be thin with a perfect waist size and it’s totally okay to be a few pounds heavier. But it is absolutely essential to be happy. If you are not happy and relaxed, you’ll never achieve the calm that’s hidden in meditation.
Weekend getaways have become a trend. Not just in small cities but metros as well. Over a couple of years I have realized that it is absolutely essential for people to do something over a weekend or on an extended holiday.
Ice creams are my all time favourite. Summer,Winter,Autumn or Monsoon; Happy,Sad,Angry or Pmsing, these yummies are a must. Ice cream has a cure for everything. It soothes the summer heat, gives you an extra ounce of chill in the winter breeze, makes the drizzling even more romantic and quirks up your imagination.
Home is the ultimate destination, heavenly and divine. You might be a globe trotter and love your wanderer life, but at the end of the day, the fragrance of your house gives you inner peace.
Vintage flair with a dash of elegance will always be in vogue. The tinge of sophistication with which each little thing evolves, evokes beauty of its existence.
Pictures take away your heart in the most blissful form ever. The moments that you live rejoicing and dancing in the realm of a life filled with abundance of love is captured in a photo which in turn lets you relive those moments, again and again for the rest of your life.
I may not be a 'connoisseur of perfect food' but most definitely I count myself as a 'hardcore foodie'! My nostrils start functioning at the aroma of delicious delicacies and my tongue twirls like it's very much in sync.
